NGA 3-0 JAM: Nigeria Retain Unity Cup Crown with Comfortable Win Against Jamaica

According to a report by Evening Standard on Saturday, May 30, 2026, The Super Eagles of Nigeria retained control of the Unity Cup final with a dominant 3-0 victory over Jamaica at The Valley in London, once again proving too strong for the Reggae Boyz in the competition’s showpiece event.

Eric Chelle’s side entered the contest as defending champions after beating Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semi-finals, while Jamaica had also secured a comfortable win over India to reach the final.

The latest meeting between both nations was expected to be closely contested following Nigeria’s dramatic penalty shootout triumph in the 2025 final, but the Super Eagles delivered another composed and clinical performance to lift the trophy again.

Nigeria made a perfect start and opened the scoring after just four minutes. A long throw into the box caused chaos in the Jamaican defence, and goalkeeper Boyce-Clarke could only parry the ball into the path of Alhassan Yusuf, who reacted quickest to slot home the rebound and give the Super Eagles an early advantage.

The goal settled Nigeria immediately as they dominated possession and dictated the tempo for much of the first half. Jamaica struggled to build sustained attacks, repeatedly giving the ball away under pressure from Nigeria’s energetic midfield.

Terem Moffi and Femi Azeez were constant threats in the final third. Moffi’s movement stretched the Jamaican back line, while Azeez impressed with his creativity down the left flank, continuing his strong form from the semi-final win over Zimbabwe.

Jamaica nearly found a route back into the contest shortly before the hour mark when Kaheim Dixon chased a loose ball inside the area following uncertainty in the Nigerian defence.

Goalkeeper Arthur Okwonkwo came under pressure as Dixon went down under the challenge, but the referee waved away strong penalty appeals from the Reggae Boyz.

Nigeria made the most of that let-off almost immediately. In the 59th minute, Azeez delivered a precise cross from the left and Moffi rose highest to head home Nigeria’s second goal of the evening, effectively sealing control of the final.

The Super Eagles remained comfortable thereafter, managing possession and limiting Jamaica’s attacking opportunities despite a few substitutions and brief pressure in the closing stages. Azeez continued to influence proceedings and tested the goalkeeper with a low strike that was comfortably saved.

Deep into stoppage time, Yusuf added further gloss to the scoreline, finishing off a flowing move to complete his brace and seal a commanding 3-0 victory for Nigeria.

The three-time African champions saw out the match professionally to secure another Unity Cup triumph, extending their recent dominance in the competition.

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor.
