BREAKING: Israel Army Chief Warns Military Ready to Resume Fighting “Immediately and Forcefully”

According to the Anadolu agency, Israel’s military chief has signaled that the country’s current pause in large-scale fighting may be fragile, warning that forces are ready to return to combat at short notice across multiple fronts.

Speaking at an Independence Day ceremony in Jerusalem, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir addressed a hall of decorated soldiers, but his message reached far beyond the occasion. The army, he said, remains on edge, prepared, if needed, to shift rapidly from uneasy calm back to full confrontation.

“At this time, the IDF maintains high alertness and readiness, prepared to return immediately and forcefully to combat in all sectors,” Zamir said, capturing the precarious balance Israel now faces after months of war and intermittent ceasefires.

The remarks come as tensions continue to simmer in Gaza, southern Lebanon, and with Iran, despite efforts to contain the violence. Zamir framed the past months as part of a broader effort to rebuild military strength following the shock of last year’s attacks. “Since the inferno of October 7, we have been working to reestablish our military strength through continuous fighting,” he said.

He pointed to operations in Gaza as a central front, declaring that the army “prevailed in the fight against Hamas and upheld the command: ‘We leave no one behind.’” At the same time, he underscored ongoing operations in the north. “At this very moment, we are conducting intense fighting in Lebanon to strengthen the defense of the northern communities,” he said.

Zamir also referenced the continuing shadow conflict with Iran, linking recent escalations to earlier confrontations. “So too in the fighting against Iran in Rising Lion and Roaring Lion,” he noted, referring to both the June 2025 war and the latest 40-day conflict.

His comments reflect a region still on edge, where ceasefires offer only limited relief and the prospect of renewed violence remains close. For Israel, the message is clear: the war may have slowed, but it is far from over.
