Senator Ali Ndume has revealed how he was invited for a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu after one of the President’s aides drew attention to his public comments during a television interview.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, on Friday, 26 June, 2026, the senator representing Borno South said he had only met with the President twice since 2023, despite being a ranking member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the lawmaker, the aide contacted him shortly after the interview and conveyed the President’s invitation. Ndume said the meeting provided an opportunity for both men to engage in an extensive discussion on national issues and governance.
Recalling the encounter, he said: “They called me and he said, ‘Look, Ali, I want to see you tonight.’ I said, ‘Okay Sir.’ I went to him and we had lengthy discussions and I left. And he said come from time to time and I said I will not come time to time. If you want me to come time to time, if you say come on so so date. You are the president and if I don’t come you can even send the IG to come and arrest me and bring me here.”
