BREAKING: 2027: Wike Dismisses ADC, NDC Claims of Political Redemption

According to a report by DAILY POST on Monday 1st June 2026, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged the credibility of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), saying the two parties have failed to demonstrate the leadership qualities they promise Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike made the remarks during his monthly media chat on Monday while reacting to controversies that trailed the parties’ recent primary elections.

The minister argued that despite portraying themselves as alternatives to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), both parties have struggled to conduct internal elections that enjoy the confidence of all participants.

According to him, the disputes and protests recorded during the primaries exposed what he described as a gap between the parties’ public rhetoric and their actual conduct.

He questioned how political groups seeking to take over power at the national level could not successfully manage internal democratic processes involving only a handful of aspirants.

Wike noted that some contestants openly rejected the outcome of the primaries, a development he said undermines claims that the parties represent a new political culture.

“They have spent years criticizing established parties, but when it came to conducting their own congresses and primaries, the same accusations of irregularities emerged,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor maintained that Nigerians should evaluate political parties based on their actions rather than campaign promises, stressing that no party should be viewed as a political saviour simply because it presents itself as an alternative platform.
