Speaking during an appearance on Arise Tv on Saturday, June 27th 2026, Fred Owotorufa has dismissed concerns over a legal dispute involving his political platform, describing the matter as a distraction that will ultimately be resolved through the judicial process.

Speaking during an interview, Owotorufa maintained that there is no basis for claims suggesting the party is facing an existential threat, expressing confidence that the appeal process would settle the issue in its favour. “There are no ashes. It is only a distraction,” he said.

He added that his team remains focused on pursuing legal remedies rather than being distracted by ongoing litigation.

“We will clear this distraction through the appeal,” Owotorufa stated, reaffirming confidence in the judiciary.

Reflecting on the party’s history, he noted that obtaining registration from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was a lengthy process that required persistence.

“It took NDC about nine years to secure registration from INEC,” he said, arguing that the party’s registration followed due legal process.

Owotorufa also contended that INEC did not challenge the judgment that led to the party’s registration because there were no legal grounds for doing so.

“INEC never appealed the original judgment because there was nothing to appeal,” he said.

Commenting on the legal action initiated by the Peace Movement Party, Owotorufa questioned the standing of the group and criticized the court’s decision to entertain its application.

“The Peace Movement Party is a non-existent and amorphous body. There was no reason for the court to entertain its application,” he asserted.

The legal dispute remains subject to judicial determination, with the appeal process expected to clarify the issues raised by the parties. Owotorufa, however, insisted that the matter would not derail his political movement, expressing optimism that the courts would uphold what he described as the party’s lawful status and allow it to continue its activities without further disruption.
