According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Saturday, June 27, 2026, a victim of a kidnapping incident in the Ogbere Forest axis of Ogun State who sustained gunshot injuries, has given an account of how she survived an attack by armed men after being rescued by security operatives.

The woman narrated that the incident occurred while she was travelling through the forest corridor when armed assailants suddenly emerged and blocked the roadway.

According to her account, the attackers positioned themselves in a way that stopped her vehicle and forced her into a confrontation at close range, leaving her with no immediate escape route as the situation unfolded.

The encounter quickly escalated into a tense standoff, with the armed individuals issuing commands that created panic and confusion during the attempted abduction.

The situation, she said, developed rapidly and left little room for negotiation or resistance.

During the confrontation, she recounted that she resisted complying with the order to leave her vehicle despite repeated threats from one of the attackers.

The armed man, positioned near her vehicle, demanded that she exit, warning her of consequences if she refused, her refusal, according to her account, led to further aggression from the assailant.

She further described how the situation turned violent when one of the attackers discharged a firearm at her after she declined to step out of the vehicle.

The gunshot left her injured, and the attackers continued their actions amid the chaos that followed.

The incident occurred along a stretch of road known for limited visibility and security challenges within the forested area.

Following the attack, she was eventually rescued by security operatives who responded to the incident and took her to safety for medical attention.

The rescue operation came after the assailants had left the scene, allowing responders to secure the area and evacuate the victim for treatment of her injuries sustained during the incident.

While recounting the ordeal after receiving assistance, she described the sequence of events leading up to the shooting, the threats issued by the armed men, and the moment the attack escalated.

She also detailed how the confrontation unfolded in quick succession, beginning with the roadblock and ending with the discharge of a firearm at close range.

“When we were going to the centre of the road, what I saw was a young man parked… He said, ‘Come out, or I will shoot you.’ I managed myself, I said, ‘I won’t come out.’ He fired me with a bullet,” she said.
