According to a report by The Jerusalem Post on Saturday, June 27, 2026, Iran has announced that it carried out what it described as retaliatory strikes on targets linked to United States forces, following recent US airstrikes on its southern coast.

In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Tehran said the US military actions amounted to violations of the United Nations Charter and a previous memorandum of understanding between both countries.

The ministry added that the response was taken after what it described as an attack on Iranian territory, which it linked to broader ceasefire breaches. Favor As Higher Power? Iran did not provide details on the exact locations of the targets hit or specify the scale of the operations carried out.

Officials in Tehran maintained that the strikes were directed at assets associated with US forces in response to what they called repeated violations of international agreements.

The statement also repeated Iran’s position that recent US military activity has undermined existing diplomatic understandings, warning that continued aggression would trigger further responses.

Tensions between both countries have escalated in recent weeks amid renewed exchanges of military actions and accusations of ceasefire violations.

The situation has raised concerns among regional observers over the risk of further escalation in already fragile security conditions.

Neither Washington nor independent military sources have immediately confirmed Iran’s claims regarding the strikes or the alleged violations cited by Tehran.

Iran, however, reaffirmed that it considers its actions as defensive and consistent with international law, stressing that it will continue to respond to any perceived breaches of agreements governing the ongoing tensions between both sides.
