According to a report by Al-Jazeera on Friday, June 26, 2026, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has warned Iran against launching another attack on Israel, saying any such action would amount to a serious strategic error and would trigger a decisive military response.
Katz issued the warning in a post on his official X account on Friday, following renewed threats from senior Iranian military officials amid continuing tensions between the two regional rivals.
According to the Israeli defence chief, Iran would be making its “biggest mistake” if it chose to escalate hostilities by carrying out another attack on Israeli territory.
His remarks came after comments attributed to a commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who reportedly reiterated Tehran’s readiness to respond to what it considers acts of aggression by Israel.
“The IRGC commander has continued to issue threats against Israel in recent days,” Katz said.
He maintained that Israel’s military remains fully prepared for any potential confrontation, adding that Iranian actions targeting strategic waterways or civilians would not deter Israel from responding.
“Neither the Strait of Hormuz nor attacks on civilians will help them. Nothing will stop us. Our forces are prepared to finish the job,” Katz stated.
Israeli officials have consistently maintained that the country will respond forcefully to any attack on its territory or citizens. Iran, on the other hand, has repeatedly defended its military posture as a legitimate means of safeguarding its sovereignty and deterring external threats.
The renewed war of words follows months of heightened tensions involving missile exchanges, military operations and diplomatic disputes that have raised concerns among world powers over the possibility of a broader regional conflict.
