According to report by Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, several former stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states have defected to the Accord Party and declared support for the presidential ambition of Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsements emerged during separate political mobilisation meetings held across the three northern states.

Participants, including community leaders, youth representatives, women groups, and grassroots mobilisers, expressed their commitment to strengthening support for both the Accord Party and Hashim’s presidential bid.

The defectors explained that their decision was driven by growing dissatisfaction with the country’s current state of affairs.

They cited economic difficulties, insecurity, and what they described as a widening gap between government leaders and ordinary citizens.

According to them, after supporting the APC in previous elections, they now believe Nigeria needs a new political direction and leadership capable of addressing pressing national challenges.

In Kano, former APC stakeholder Mallam Goje Bashir announced his departure from the ruling party alongside numerous supporters, stating that he had lost confidence in the current administration and now backs Hashim’s candidacy.

Similarly, former APC chieftain Hajia Rabi Fagge said a major political shift is taking place across northern Nigeria, with many citizens seeking accountable leadership and meaningful development.

Stakeholders in Jigawa and Katsina echoed these sentiments, arguing that Nigerians are increasingly searching for leaders who can revive the economy, improve security, and enhance citizens’ welfare.

Ambassador Aisha Ibrahim, women leader of the Hashim Progressive Movement, expressed confidence that northern voters would strongly support Hashim in 2027, just as they played a significant role in the 2023 elections.

State coordinators in Jigawa and Katsina described Hashim as a credible and trustworthy leader whose message resonates with voters.

Representatives of the movement said the growing endorsements demonstrate increasing nationwide support for Hashim’s agenda of economic recovery, security, job creation, accountability, and inclusive governance ahead of the next presidential election.

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor.
