Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has declared that the ultimate decision regarding the leadership capability of his principal rests entirely with citizens. Speaking during a recent television broadcast, he challenged the ruling party to allow a transparent democratic process.
According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Arise News on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, when asked if Nigerians would trust Atiku over the current administration, he answered, “it’s up to Nigerians to make a determination as to whether Atiku Abubakar is competent enough and has the skill set to be able to govern Nigeria.”
Ibe further noted that governance should not be reduced to media manipulation or shifting blame to past administrations. He urged current officeholders to prioritize national security and public welfare over considerations of the upcoming general elections, pointing out that current strategies are failing the people.
The spokesperson maintained that democratic accountability requires leaders to perform optimally or honorably give way for competent individuals.
