“I Fear Nigeria Is Heading Toward One-Party Rule — Only APC Will Remain” — Ndume
Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, has expressed concern over the growing number of political defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the trend could leave the country with limited political alternatives.
Ndume made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, March 19, 2026, while discussing political developments and the movement of politicians from other parties into the APC.
During the interview, the senator pointed to ongoing and anticipated defections by political figures across several parties, including members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“After all, you see that every day, even tomorrow, or next tomorrow, I think, the governor of Zamfara state is decamping to APC. The governor of which state, again, has decamped to APC,” Ndume said.
He added that defections are occurring across multiple opposition platforms. “Even PDP, the balance of ADC, PDP are decamping to APC. The people in the LP are all decamping,” he said.
According to the senator, the growing movement of politicians into the APC could create a situation where political competition becomes limited. “In fact, I’m scared, that there will be no party except APC,” Ndume said.
He further questioned how elections would function if the political landscape were to narrow significantly. “So, if you don’t have another party, you only have APC, which party do you vote for again?” he asked.
In response, the programme anchor questioned whether such a development would be consistent with democratic principles. “Does that mean welfare democracy? Is that the kind of democracy we should be running? Where everyone is in one political party?” the anchor asked.
Ndume replied by reiterating his concerns about the direction of political alignments in the country. “I have expressed my fear,” he said.
The senator suggested that the political landscape could evolve into a situation where political competition is defined differently. “We are going to have two parties, it seems. The people and the APC,” Ndume said.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
