BREAKING: PMB Opens Up on Unexpected Depth of Nigeria’s Challenges, Sani Recalls North’s High Hopes

Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has said that many Nigerians once believed former President Muhammadu Buhari had answers to all the country’s problems, but later realized the challenges were deeper than expected.

Speaking during an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Sani explained that before Buhari came into power, especially in the northern part of the country, there was a strong belief that he would fix major issues like electricity, poor roads, underdevelopment, and education. However, after eight years in office, many of those expectations were not fully met.

Sani added that Buhari himself admitted he did not fully understand how difficult the situation was before becoming president.

He also spoke about the current administration, saying President Bola Tinubu has made some progress, estimating that about 30 percent of his campaign promises have been addressed so far. According to him, governance is a continuous process, and more can be achieved over time if given another chance.

Sani noted that it is common for politicians to make big promises during campaigns, often presenting themselves as having quick solutions to complex problems. However, he said no leader anywhere in the world has been able to fulfill all campaign promises completely.

He emphasized that instead of expecting perfection, citizens should focus on the level of progress made and understand that leadership takes time to deliver lasting results.
