Founder and Senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has cautioned young people against neglecting reading and personal development, warning that consistent failure to learn will limit their chances of success and leadership.
Speaking during a recent sermon shared on YouTube, Ibiyeomie stressed that reading is a foundational requirement for growth, influence, and long-term achievement in life.
According to him, many young people misunderstand the purpose of reading, focusing only on passing examinations instead of building knowledge and expanding their mental capacity.
“You will never be enthroned if you don’t like to read,” he said. “Not reading to pass exams, but reading for personal development. That is where many people miss it.”
He explained that successful individuals across different fields share a common habit of continuous reading and learning, which helps them develop deeper understanding and better decision-making abilities.
Ibiyeomie advised youths to develop a culture of intentional learning, adding that reading should become a daily habit rather than an academic obligation.
He also cautioned against misuse of the internet, urging young people to prioritize educational and developmental content over distractions.
“Don’t go to the internet for nonsense. Go to the internet for mental development,” he said.
The cleric added that exposure to irrelevant online content could hinder progress and limit intellectual growth.
According to him, greatness is closely tied to knowledge acquisition, discipline, and the ability to consistently improve one’s thinking capacity.
He concluded by encouraging young people to commit to continuous learning, stating that those who refuse to read or develop themselves will struggle to make meaningful impact in life.
