In her response, Leavitt acknowledged the legitimacy of the concern while stopping short of outlining any formal coordination with technology platforms. She stated: “It’s certainly a good question. I don’t have tangible answers for you on what we’re doing with social media companies, if anything at all. What I will say is it’s very important to us that we get the truth and the facts about this case and any case out there as quickly as possible to dispel some of that crazy nonsense that you do see running rampant online.” She credited the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation with having thus far done a competent job of disseminating accurate and factual information regarding the alleged attempted assassin, and noted that the suspect was scheduled to be arraigned in court imminently. She also confirmed that the Department of Justice would be providing a formal briefing and update to the public later that same day.

Leavitt framed maximum transparency as the administration’s primary tool against the proliferation of false narratives, expressing the view that timely and credible official information was the most effective counterweight to conspiracy theories. She stated that the administration’s position was to provide as much factual detail as possible as rapidly as possible, in the hope that the public would choose verified truth over online speculation.
