African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Oladimeji Fabiyi has faulted former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, over his recent criticism of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar following his resignation from the opposition coalition.
Fabiyi made the remarks during an interview on Trust TV, on Wednesday, 3 June, 2026 while reacting to comments attributed to Lawal after his departure from the ADC-backed coalition movement. The former SGF had reportedly questioned Atiku’s role and suitability within the opposition alliance, prompting responses from party loyalists and coalition supporters.
Speaking on the matter, Fabiyi accused Lawal of being inconsistent in his criticism of Atiku, particularly over issues relating to ethnicity. He argued that it was contradictory for Lawal to raise concerns about Atiku’s Fulani background after previously working alongside him within the coalition framework.
“He came out and was accusing Atiku of being a Fulani man. So when Atiku was setting up coalition and he joined, he didn’t know Atiku was Fulani man then?” Fabiyi asked.
The ADC chieftain maintained that ethnicity should not be used as a basis for attacking political opponents, especially within a coalition that was established to bring together Nigerians from diverse backgrounds and regions. According to him, the focus of opposition leaders should be on addressing national challenges and building a credible alternative platform rather than engaging in identity-based criticisms.
Fabiyi further contended that Lawal’s comments could undermine efforts to foster unity among opposition figures at a time when cooperation is widely seen as necessary for political success. He stressed that those who willingly joined the coalition were fully aware of the identities and political histories of its leading figures.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
