According to a report by DAILY POST on Monday 1st June 2026, the campaign team of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has strongly rejected allegations of rigging levelled by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, demanding that he provide credible evidence to support his claims.
Lawal had recently resigned from the ADC and, in the process, accused Atiku of manipulating the party’s presidential primary; He alleged that the exercise was compromised and did not reflect a fair democratic process.
However, in a swift response, Atiku’s camp dismissed the accusations as baseless, insisting that the primary election was conducted transparently across multiple wards nationwide and reflected the genuine choice of party members.
The statement, credited to Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, emphasized that Lawal failed to present any form of verifiable proof, documents, or witnesses to back his claims.
According to the camp, the ADC primary was orderly and conclusive, producing a clear outcome that represents the will of delegates across the country.
