In a recent interview on Symfoni TV, on Friday, June 26, 2026, Peter Ameh, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Senatorial candidate for Kogi East, expressed confidence that Peter Obi would record stronger electoral performances in several states during the 2027 presidential election.
Ameh argued that the opposition coalition has continued to expand its grassroots support since the 2023 general election. He said the growing collaboration between opposition leaders and local stakeholders would improve the party’s chances in states where Obi previously performed well.
Speaking during the interview, Ameh stated, “In 2023, Obi came second in Bayelsa. He is not going to come second again; he will win.” He made the remark while discussing his expectations for the opposition’s performance in Bayelsa State.
According to Ameh, the coalition is engaging with supporters and political stakeholders across the state to strengthen its structures ahead of the next election.
