Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has cited infrastructure development, improved road networks and access to government-backed loans as evidence that Nigerians are benefiting from the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Onanuga argued that the positive effects of the government’s reforms are visible across different sectors and regions of the country, despite criticism from opposition figures and concerns about economic hardship.
The presidential aide pointed to his personal experience while traveling within the South-West as an example of ongoing infrastructure improvements. “Let me give you an example. One day I was travelling from Ibadan to Lagos, and Google Map told me that there’s a go slow in the approach to Lagos. I decided to take the Shagamu, via Shagamu,” he said.
According to him, he was surprised to discover a newly constructed road during the journey. “And what struck me was that I just found myself on a paved road, concrete road. I said, wow, when was this one built? I’ve not been to Ijebu for some time, and a few times I’ve been there, I only came through Epe. So I said, wow, this is different,” Onanuga stated.
He said the development had improved transportation in the area and reduced complaints from residents. “And I found that our people, when I say our Ijebu people, they’ve stopped complaining. I said, oh, no wonder. They now have a brand new road that’s not just an asphalt road, a concrete road,” he added.
Onanuga also referenced the impact of the coastal highway project, saying it has significantly reduced travel times for commuters. “I live in Aja. Anytime I go to Lagos, and I ask Google Maps to tell me how soon will I get home, Google Maps will tell me one hour, seven minutes. Before, two hours, 30 minutes. And the reason for that is because we now have a coastal road that is shortening my travel time,” he said.
Questioning claims that Nigerians are not benefiting from government policies, the presidential spokesman argued that infrastructure projects and social intervention programmes are having a positive effect on citizens. “Is that not beneficial? What are people talking about, really?” he asked.
Onanuga further highlighted the Federal Government’s student loan programme, saying it has eased the financial burden on many families. “Look, if you have students, if you are a parent, and you have four children in university, and they’re able to access federal loan, which is interest-free, are they not benefiting? Are the parents not benefiting?” he said.
He also pointed to affordable credit facilities available to public servants as another benefit of the administration’s policies. “If you are a civil servant, and you can access the credit card, very cheap loan, at below interest rate, about 7%, now people can access that loan at single digit,” Onanuga stated.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
