Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the nomination of businessman and politician, Martin Anayochukwu Oli, as a commissioner-designate in the state.
The nomination was announced in a statement issued to Naija News by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Oli’s name will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The state government described Oli, who hails from Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, as an accomplished businessman and politician with a strong record of community service and grassroots development.
It noted that he had contributed significantly to initiatives aimed at promoting social and economic development and had earned recognition as a prominent leader of the Igbo community in Edo State.
The statement added that through his business and political engagements, Oli had consistently championed development-oriented initiatives and demonstrated leadership in the private sector.
The government said the nomination reflects Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to promoting inclusiveness, unity and broad-based participation in governance.
According to the statement, the administration remains committed to harnessing the expertise and contributions of individuals dedicated to the development of Edo State, irrespective of their ethnic background.
The statement added that the nominee’s confirmation is subject to approval by the Edo State House of Assembly.
