BREAKING NEWS: APC Shifts Presidential, Guber Primaries; Obasa Backs Hamzat’s Governorship Bid
2027: APC Shifts Presidential, Guber Primaries
The All Progressives Congress has postponed its presidential and governorship primaries as part of adjustments to its timetable for the 2027 general elections. According to Deputy National Publicity Secretary Duro Meseko, the presidential primary has been moved from May 15–16 to May 23, 2026, while governorship primaries will now hold on May 21. The party said the changes align with the Constitution, the Electoral Act 2026, and the revised election timetable issued by Independent National Electoral Commission.
The APC also rescheduled the sale and submission of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, and appeal processes. It confirmed that both direct and consensus modes of primaries will be used, with aspirants allowed to choose where applicable. The changes come as INEC prepares for the 2027 elections, with presidential and National Assembly polls set for January 16, 2027, and governorship and state assembly elections scheduled for February 6, 2027.
Obasa Backs Hamzat’s Governorship Bid
Mudashiru Obasa has endorsed Dr Obafemi Hamzat for the Lagos governorship, expressing strong support during a meeting at his Ikeja residence. Obasa praised Hamzat’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and his contributions to infrastructure development, urging party stakeholders to rally behind his candidacy ahead of the election.
In response, Hamzat thanked the Speaker for his backing and reiterated his focus on inclusive governance and continuity in development. He said, “Lagos is a collective project. My consultations are not about personal ambition but about ensuring continuity, innovation, and inclusive development for our people,” emphasising collaboration as central to his political ambition.

‘Assault on democracy’ – APC stakeholders frown at Ogun East consensus move
Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun East Senatorial District have criticised the recent caucus meeting where Dapo Abiodun was endorsed as the consensus candidate for the 2027 elections, describing it as an “assault on democracy.” The controversy deepened after former governor Gbenga Daniel was allegedly denied entry to the meeting venue in Ijebu Ode, with his supporters insisting the process was stage-managed to favour the governor.
Leaders of the BATOGD movement accused the organisers of using the party’s name to lure members into what they called “Dapo Abiodun’s show,” alleging intimidation, exclusion of qualified attendees, and heavy police deployment around Daniel’s residence to disrupt their grassroots tour. They called on the party’s national leadership to intervene and prevent internal democracy from being undermined, while also reaffirming support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC’s 2027 presidential candidate.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
