According to a report by The Sun, on Tuesday June 23, 2026, mass resignation has hit the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Nigeria Democratic Congress in Ebonyi State following the exit of several members of its State Executive Committee.

‎The crisis was made public during a briefing in Abakaliki, the state capital, the development is linked to allegations of corruption, financial misconduct, and disputes over party primaries ahead of the 2027 elections in Nigeria.

‎Several top officials, including the deputy chairman, secretary, youth leader, welfare officer, and others, resigned from the party, their supporters also left in large numbers.

‎The former executives said they could no longer work under the current leadership, they blamed internal conflicts for weakening the party structure across Ebonyi State.

‎Former deputy chairman Okey Idenyi said the party had been taken over by interests that pushed aside founding members, he said those who built the structure were sidelined.

‎He criticized the primaries, saying earlier promises of consensus candidates were abandoned, he described the exercise as disorganized and unfair to many members.

‎Another former official, Barrister Solomon Chinedu Adum, alleged that aspirants were required to make large financial contributions during fundraising activities, he said nomination processes were followed by extra payments before screening.

‎He argued that this reduced transparency and favored politically connected individuals, former youth leader Anthony Nwofe also described the primaries as unfair and poorly managed.

‎Former welfare officer Cyril Ajah confirmed his resignation, saying he could no longer support the party’s direction, party leaders have not issued an official response, as attempts to reach the state chairman were unsuccessful.
