According to a report by Fox News, on Tuesday June 23, 2026, as the White House moves forward with a temporary sanctions waiver allowing Iran to sell oil under a new diplomatic framework, lawmakers are sounding the alarm over the financial risks involved, warning that any influx of capital could directly fund terrorism.
Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued a blunt warning on America’s Newsroom regarding the U.S. Treasury’s decision to temporarily unfreeze assets and permit oil revenue to flow back to Tehran, even if earmarked strictly for humanitarian aid.
“Any red flag is us giving any amount of cash of any kind to the Iranian regime,” Senator Sheehy warned. “They won’t use that cash for bridges and schools to rebuild the country. It will be used for bombs, rockets, and to kill Americans and kill Israelis. We have to keep that in mind.”
