BREAKING: “I Joined Second Operation, Got N1.5m from N15m Ransom” — Issiaq Confesses

According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, April 25, 2026, an individual identified as Issiaq, who allegedly operated under the guise of a foodstuff seller using a wheelbarrow, has been linked to kidnapping activities in Oyo State.

He was said to have used the routine nature of street vending to conceal his movements and avoid suspicion while engaging in the alleged crime.

His activities reportedly went unnoticed for a period before he was arrested by operatives of the Monitoring Unit of the Oyo State Police Command following a kidnapping case involving victims and ransom payment.

Wheelbarrow hawking of foodstuffs is a common feature in many communities, where traders move through streets selling basic goods as part of daily commercial activity.

Within such settings, movement is often seen as ordinary and does not usually attract attention.

Issiaq was said to have blended into this environment by presenting himself as a regular vendor, allegedly using the familiarity of this trade pattern to move through different locations while avoiding suspicion during the period of the reported incidents.

The arrest was made by operatives of the Monitoring Unit of the Oyo State Police Command after investigative work connected him to a kidnapping incident.

The operation reportedly followed the abduction of victims and subsequent ransom payment by their families.

Police monitoring efforts were said to have traced links to those involved, leading to his apprehension as part of efforts to address kidnapping activities in the area.

Issiaq, aged 25, is reported to be from Katsina State, he was identified as one of those connected to the group allegedly involved in the incident under investigation.

His details were documented during the course of the inquiry carried out by security operatives as part of the case linked to the kidnapping operation.

He was said to have provided information during interrogation concerning his involvement in the operation.

According to his account, he participated alongside others in a subsequent phase of the activity connected to the kidnapping case.

His statement formed part of the information gathered by investigators as they examined how the incident was carried out.

He also reportedly described how money obtained from the ransom was shared among members of the group involved in the operation.

The total amount paid by the victim’s family was said to be fifteen million naira, which was distributed after the kidnapping incident.

His own share from the proceeds was stated to be N1.5 million, reflecting his role in one of the operations linked to the case under investigation.

In his confession, Issiaq explained his participation in the operation and the amount he received from the ransom.

He said, “I went with the gang on the second operation and was given N1.5 million out of the N15 million ransom paid by the victim’s family members.”
