BREAKING: Ex-Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu Reacts to The Abduction of His Sister And Her Twin Children

According to The Punch, The sister of former Minister of Power and 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu, along with her twin children, has been kidnapped in Ibadan, the state capital.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan South West Local Government Area. According to a statement by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, 43-year-old Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul was abducted by armed gunmen at around 7:30 a.m. while on her way to drop her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, at school.

Mrs. John-Paul, the youngest of five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu, had recently retired from roles at the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before relocating to Ibadan to join her husband, Mr. John Paul, who had moved to the United States.

Awogboro stated that security agencies were immediately contacted and have begun preliminary investigations. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of Mrs. John-Paul and her children, and the family remains hopeful in the security agencies’ capacity to resolve the situation.

The family urged the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and refrain from sharing unverified information that could compromise the investigation. They also requested prayers, support, and for anyone with relevant information to report it to authorities.

This kidnapping follows a series of similar incidents in Oyo State, including the abduction of over 40 teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area in May 2026 and APC chieftain Wale Oriade in December 2025, highlighting growing security concerns in Ibadan and surrounding communities.
