According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Arsenal have reportedly taken a major step towards signing Morgan Rogers after reaching an agreement in principle with the player, with the club now set to begin negotiations with Aston Villa over a potential blockbuster summer transfer.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad after a memorable 2025/26 campaign where they ended their long wait for a Premier League title and also reached the Champions League final. Although they missed out on European glory after losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties, the season was still viewed as a significant success for Mikel Arteta’s team.

Despite their achievements, Arsenal are expected to remain busy in the transfer window as they aim to improve their attacking department. The club is preparing for possible squad changes, with some players attracting interest from elsewhere, while Arteta wants more competition and quality options in the final third.

Reports from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano suggest that Morgan Rogers has emerged as Arsenal’s preferred attacking target, with talks between the player’s camp and the club said to be moving in a positive direction. The north London side are reportedly eager to complete the deal and avoid delays during the summer window.

Romano added that while Arsenal and Aston Villa are yet to fully negotiate a transfer fee, the Premier League champions are ready to make a huge financial commitment to bring Rogers to the Emirates Stadium. The player is believed to be interested in joining Arsenal and becoming part of Arteta’s plans.

Rogers has gained plenty of attention following his impressive displays for Aston Villa, with his versatility, physical strength and attacking ability making him one of the standout players at the club. His performances have reportedly convinced Arsenal that he can play an important role in their future plans.

Journalist Nicolò Schira has also claimed that Rogers has already reached a verbal agreement on a long-term deal with Arsenal that would run until 2031. The final hurdle remains an agreement between the two clubs before the transfer can be completed.

However, former Arsenal star Paul Merson has urged caution over the move, questioning whether Rogers would provide a significant improvement compared to the current options available at the club, including captain Martin Ødegaard.
