According to a report by Metro on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Manchester United are preparing to offload three players this summer as the club continues its squad rebuild following the agreement to sign Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta.
The arrival of Ederson is expected to be the first of several changes at Old Trafford, with manager Michael Carrick and the club’s recruitment team working on reshaping the squad ahead of the new season. Alongside new signings, player departures are also expected to play a major role in the club’s plans.
One of the players likely to leave is Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan midfielder arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in a £50 million deal in 2024, but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. Ugarte found opportunities limited under former manager Ruben Amorim and his situation has not improved since Carrick took charge.
Manchester United are also reportedly willing to listen to offers for striker Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch forward endured another difficult campaign and managed only two goals during his second season at the club. After failing to make the expected impact, the club is now looking at the possibility of moving him on.
Goalkeeper Andre Onana is another player expected to leave. The Cameroon international spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor and has been informed that he is no longer part of Manchester United’s long-term plans. Although he was once the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, his position changed after the arrival of Senne Lammens, who quickly became the preferred option between the posts.
With Ederson already on the way and further signings expected, Manchester United are keen to create room in the squad while also generating funds for additional transfers.
