According to a report by London Evening Standard on Wednesday June 3, 2026, Andoni Iraola is expected to bring several trusted Bournemouth staff members with him as he moves closer to becoming Liverpool’s next head coach.

Reports indicate that the Spaniard has already reached a verbal agreement on a two-year contract and is set to replace Arne Slot at Anfield.

Liverpool are moving quickly following Slot’s departure. The Dutch coach was dismissed after a disappointing second campaign. The Reds ended the season in fifth place and finished 25 points behind Premier League champions Arsenal. Club officials have now identified Iraola as their preferred successor.

The 44-year-old leaves Bournemouth after overseeing a remarkable 2025-26 season. His side achieved the club’s highest-ever Premier League finish by ending the campaign in sixth place. According to reports, he has requested that four members of his Bournemouth backroom team join him at Liverpool. The group includes Pablo de la Torre, Tommy Elphick, Shaun Cooper and Tom Webber.

Elphick could be one of the first to make the move. Reports suggest he has supported Liverpool throughout his life. He also recently rejected an opportunity to become Bristol City manager, which may increase the likelihood of him accepting a role at Anfield.
