Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a strong warning to the United States, stressing that meaningful dialogue can only be built on trust and fulfilled commitments, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.

In a post shared on his verified social media account, Pezeshkian said “honoring commitments is the basis of meaningful dialogue,” highlighting Tehran’s long-standing concerns over Washington’s credibility. He pointed to what he described as a “deep historical mistrust” toward US government conduct, arguing that repeated policy inconsistencies have undermined diplomatic efforts.

The Iranian leader also criticized what he called “unconstructive and contradictory signals” from American officials, saying such actions convey a “bitter message” that the United States is seeking Iran’s surrender rather than genuine negotiation. He firmly rejected that notion, declaring that “Iranians do not submit to force.”

His remarks come at a critical moment, as recent developments reported by Al Jazeera and other outlets indicate that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are rapidly breaking down. High-level talks held in Pakistan failed to produce any agreement, with both sides blaming each other for the deadlock.

More recently, Iran has declined to participate in a follow-up round of discussions, citing what it described as excessive demands, shifting positions, and continued US military pressure, including a naval blockade of Iranian ports. These developments have significantly reduced the chances of reviving diplomacy in the near term.
