BREAKING NEWS: Ukraine Minister Predicts Difficult Days Ahead For Russian Forces
According to a report by The Kyiv Post on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said that continued drone operations targeting Russian logistics could soon leave occupied Crimea effectively cut off from key supply routes.
In an interview published on June 17 with the YouTube channel PRESSING, Fedorov stated that sustained aerial pressure is reshaping the battlefield situation around the peninsula. He said, “Crimea is being isolated by drones. In the near future, it appears that the Crimean peninsula will turn into an island.”
He added that the increasing deployment of medium-range strike drones by Ukrainian forces is disrupting transportation and resupply corridors used by Russian units operating in and around occupied Crimea.
According to him, the resulting disruption may lead to “unexpected consequences” for Russian forces, although he declined to provide further operational details.
Fedorov also revealed that Ukraine’s Defense Ministry significantly expanded procurement of medium-range strike drones in early 2026, reporting a threefold increase in contracts during the first four months compared with the entirety of 2025.
He said these systems are being used to strike positions in occupied southern regions and to interfere with logistics routes supporting Russian military operations.
He further described a new initiative referred to as a “logistics lockdown” programme, under which additional funding is being directed to military units capable of rapidly acquiring and deploying strike drones. He said, “For the Russians, hell is beginning — one that’s very hard to deal with. Logistics are being cut off. Crimea is being isolated.”
Fedorov also suggested that there is a growing link between successful strikes on supply networks and a reduction in Russian offensive activity along the front line.
