BREAKING: Obi Appeals for Unity, Says All Nigerians Are Feeling the Same Economic Pain

During an interview on Symfoni TV, Peter Obi spoke about the need to move away from tribal and religious divisions in Nigeria’s political space. He emphasized that the economic challenges affecting citizens cut across ethnic and religious lines, noting that hardship does not discriminate between groups.

He explained that issues such as the rising cost of living affect everyone in the same way, regardless of background. According to him, basic necessities are not cheaper for any tribe, which shows that the country’s problems are shared by all Nigerians.

Obi also discussed how tribal and religious sentiments sometimes appear in political discussions. He stated that such topics are often introduced when questions about qualification and competence arise, shifting attention away from the candidate’s ability to perform.

He further clarified that leadership should be determined by capability rather than ethnic or religious identity.

In his words, “We must stop the issue of tribe, the issue of religion, because no tribe or religion buys bread cheaper. Everybody is suffering. We’re all going through the same thing. And I said people who bring in tribe are people who are not qualified. So when you ask them about their qualification, their competence, they introduce tribe as a means of getting to where they should not be. When you ask them about their qualification or competence, they bring in religion. I don’t want to be voted because I I’m from the Southeast. I want people to vote for me because I’m competent.”
