Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has reflected on the state of security in Nigeria, drawing a stark comparison between the past and present. According to him, the experience of moving freely without fear was once a defining feature of life in Nigeria. He emphasized that in 1959, individuals could journey to any part of the North and be welcomed with kindness and generosity.
“In 1959 you could go to anywhere in the North and what you will get is people being graciously kind to you, nothing will disturb you,” he stated, highlighting the sense of unity and trust that existed among Nigerians at the time.
