In a recent video on Facebook, Popular Nigerian cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned of possible regional involvement in Nigeria’s political landscape, suggesting that international bodies may soon engage local stakeholders in discussions aimed at promoting peace ahead of future elections.

In a statement that has drawn attention across political circles, Ayodele said organizations such as the Economic Community of West African States and the African Union could begin consultations with Nigerian political actors as part of efforts to ensure stability.

“Ecowas and AU will start meetings, engaging political frontliners and discussing how they should sue for peace in the forthcoming election,” he said.

The cleric noted that such diplomatic engagements, while often presented as peace-building initiatives, could carry broader political implications. He suggested that the involvement of international bodies might influence internal dynamics within Nigeria’s political space.

“If they started doing this, it is a signal to tell Tinubu that start packing because they are doing all of this to support the opposition,” Ayodele stated.

He further warned that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not fully anticipate the developments or understand their potential impact on the political environment.

“Tinubu may not be very vigilant to see all of this and they may not see this coming,” he added.

Ayodele’s remarks have generated mixed reactions, with some political observers viewing them as cautionary, while others consider them speculative.
