Political commentator Atiku Isa has described former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator, Seriake Dickson, as one of the few Nigerian politicians widely respected for integrity and reliability, urging citizens to pay greater attention to leaders with proven character.

Speaking during an interview on SYMFONI, Isa said Nigeria’s political future would improve if voters and political stakeholders focused more on credibility and trustworthiness when choosing leaders.

The analyst praised Dickson’s reputation, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where he said the former governor enjoys significant goodwill among political actors and ordinary citizens.

According to Isa, many people across the region regard Dickson as a politician whose commitments can be trusted.

“Everywhere you go in the north, they say, ‘No, this man is honorable. This man is reliable,’” Isa said.

He noted that such testimonials are becoming increasingly rare in Nigerian politics and argued that leaders who keep their promises should be encouraged to play greater roles in national affairs.

Isa said he had repeatedly asked people about Dickson’s standing among political stakeholders and was impressed by the consistency of the responses he received.

According to him, many of those he consulted described the former Bayelsa governor as a man whose word carries weight and whose commitments are respected across political divides.

The political analyst further argued that Nigeria’s leadership challenges stem partly from the failure to reward integrity in public service. He maintained that politicians who demonstrate consistency, honesty and accountability should be elevated and supported by citizens.

Isa also linked Dickson’s reputation to what he described as growing support for opposition politics in parts of the country. He claimed that credible leadership remains a major factor attracting people to alternative political platforms.

During the interview, he suggested that political movements seeking to challenge the ruling establishment would need respected figures capable of inspiring confidence among voters.

He stressed that personality, trust and competence would likely play major roles in determining political success ahead of future elections.

The analyst also expressed concern about the quality of leadership in several states, arguing that voters were becoming more demanding and increasingly willing to judge elected officials based on performance rather than party affiliation.

According to him, the political environment is changing rapidly as citizens seek leaders who can address economic hardship, insecurity and governance challenges.

Isa concluded that Nigeria’s democracy would benefit from a stronger culture of accountability and merit, where public office holders are evaluated on their records and ability to inspire trust.

He maintained that politicians who consistently demonstrate integrity and keep their promises would continue to enjoy public support regardless of party affiliation.

Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor.
