The Lagos State Police have arrested two young men in connection with the killing of a 17-year-old UTME candidate, Thompson Adams, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
In a video shared by TVC News, according to the Commissioner of Police, officers acted on reliable intelligence to track down and arrest the suspects. They were identified as Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony, 21. Police say both men are linked to the death of the teenager.
In a statement given to investigators, one of the suspects explained how the incident happened. He said his partner became worried that the victim could identify them and expose their families. Because of this fear, they decided not to release him.
The suspect admitted that they returned to where the victim was being held, turned off the lights, and attacked him while he was tied up. He said he began the act but later asked his partner to continue. After some time, they realized the victim was no longer moving.
He also stated that they became scared and confused about what to do next, especially about how to get rid of the body.
In his words, “My associate called me inside and told me that now we have all the pictures we need, we should not let this guy go. As I mentioned to you earlier, he knows me down to my family, if we let this guy know he will bring his family to us. I strangled the victim, and when I held him for a minute, I got tired and I told him to continue.”
