According to a report by The Sun on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the All Progressives Congress is heading toward the 2027 general election with growing political strength, controlling 32 states across the country while opposition parties continue to struggle to unite behind a common direction.

A senior APC figure in Ekiti State, Ayo Arise, said the ruling party currently holds a major advantage, although he noted that maintaining political dominance also comes with challenges.

According to him, the APC remains well-positioned ahead of the next election cycle, especially as rival parties continue to face internal disagreements and leadership problems.

Speaking during an interview, Arise stated that President Bola Tinubu would have little difficulty securing another term if the APC presents candidates who are accepted by the people.

He explained that the party’s broad political reach and influence across many states have strengthened its chances of retaining power at the national level.

He also stressed that the opposition has not been able to provide a united front capable of challenging the ruling party effectively.

Arise also addressed the situation within the African Democratic Congress, describing the internal disputes within the party as a major obstacle for any coalition attempting to challenge the APC.

He said the crisis surrounding the ADC has weakened confidence in the platform and made it difficult for opposition politicians to rely on it as a stable political alternative.

According to him, political parties hoping to defeat the APC would first need to resolve their internal conflicts before they can focus on national elections.

The APC chieftain further spoke about the economic hardship being experienced by many Nigerians and the possible political consequences ahead of 2027.

He argued that the difficulties linked to the tensions between Iran and the United States would not stop Tinubu from winning re-election.

He maintained that international events often affect economies around the world and that Nigerians would understand the global factors contributing to current economic conditions.

He added that the administration would continue to implement policies aimed at stabilising the country despite the challenges.

During the interview, Arise was asked about accusations that the ruling party and the Presidency were responsible for the inability of opposition parties to organise themselves properly.

Critics have continued to argue that the weakness within opposition camps has been influenced by pressure from those in power, raising concerns about the health of democratic competition in the country.

The issue has remained a major talking point as preparations for the next election continue to gather momentum among political parties.

Responding to the allegations, Arise rejected claims that President Tinubu was behind the internal crises facing opposition parties.

He insisted that the President’s role was to strengthen and protect his own political party rather than manage rival groups.

He said the challenges confronting opposition parties were largely caused by their inability to organise themselves effectively and maintain internal discipline.

According to him, blaming the Presidency for those problems was an unrealistic assessment of the political situation.

He said, “If anybody says the President is responsible for the crisis in the opposition parties, he is just being unrealistic. The President knows that he has opposition but if opposition parties cannot manage themselves, I don’t think it is the responsibility of the President to manage them to defeat his own party. I don’t think the President is deliberately working on opposition not to succeed. Those people putting blame on the President are not being realistic.”

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
