A US official who spoke to the agency on condition of anonymity said American forces engaged and destroyed four Iranian one-way attack drones that were detected during ongoing surveillance operations. The drones were believed to be moving toward positions linked to US security assets in the region.

The official further stated that a separate strike was conducted on a drone control site in Bandar Abbas, where intelligence suggested preparations were underway to launch an additional unmanned aircraft. The action, according to the source, was executed quickly to prevent any immediate threat from materialising.

Washington described the operation as part of its efforts to manage rising tensions and maintain stability around the Strait of Hormuz, an area widely regarded as one of the most sensitive maritime corridors in the world due to its role in global oil transportation.
