BREAKING: Sam Amadi Reacts To Sunday Igboho’s Threats Against Obi and Atiku Supporters in Yoruba Land

Prominent Nigerian lawyer and political commentator Sam Amadi has raised concerns about what he described as a worsening political climate in parts of southwestern Nigeria, warning that intimidation and political opportunism could weaken democratic participation in the region.

In a statement posted on social media on Monday, March 16, 2026, Amadi criticized the growing trend of politicians abandoning their original parties to align with the ruling party. According to him, the wave of defections reflects a broader decline in political principles and commitment to ideological politics.

Amadi also referred to reported remarks by Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho, who allegedly warned that individuals campaigning for opposition figures such as Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar in Yoruba land could face violent consequences. Amadi described the development as a troubling sign of rising political intolerance.

“This is where we are, and everyone has decamped to the ruling party, and Sunday Igboho is threatening to kill anyone who campaigns for Obi or Atiku in Yoruba land,” Amadi wrote in his post.

The legal scholar also criticized the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that the current political situation falls short of expectations after what he described as decades of preparation for the presidency. Amadi said the situation represents a disappointing outcome for Nigeria’s democracy.

Political observers say that threats against supporters of opposition candidates and the increasing rate of party defections could discourage voter participation and weaken confidence in the democratic process. Analysts warn that if such developments continue unchecked, they may deepen political divisions and undermine fair competition in future elections.

Amadi’s comments add to growing calls for political tolerance, dialogue, and the protection of citizens’ rights to freely support candidates of their choice without fear of intimidation as Nigeria prepares for upcoming electoral contests.

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor.
