In a recent video on YouTube, the Senior Pastor of Champions Royal Assembly, Joshua Iginla, has advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to consider supporting a unified opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a sermon, Iginla described Atiku as a highly experienced political figure, but urged him to adopt a strategic role that could strengthen the opposition’s chances.
“Atiku Abubakar is a guru in terms of politics. Sometimes you might want a thing and God might not permit you,” he said.
The cleric suggested that rather than pursuing personal ambition, Atiku could play a kingmaker role by backing Peter Obi as a consensus candidate.
“Can you just be a godfather to Peter Obi and back him up and let’s get a formidable opposition that can serve?” Iginla stated.
According to him, such an arrangement could help unify opposition forces and present a stronger challenge in the next election cycle.
“Let him say I want to do one time, then back him up. Then if you people fail, you failed,” he added.
Iginla further proposed a longer-term political understanding among opposition leaders, suggesting that regional considerations could later come into play.
“Then when it comes to the time of the North, everybody can gang up around you,” he said.
The prophet emphasized that unity, sacrifice, and strategic collaboration remain essential for any political bloc seeking electoral success in Nigeria.
Iginla urged politicians to prioritize collective victory over individual ambition, insisting that only a united front can deliver meaningful change.
