According to a report by The Jerusalem Post on Saturday, June 06, 2026, a senior figure associated with Iran’s military establishment has stated that the country is prepared for a prolonged war that could last up to ten years, highlighting Tehran’s long-standing emphasis on sustained military readiness amid escalating regional tensions.

The comments were made by a former senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Hossein Kanani Moghaddam, who highlighted Iran’s capacity to endure extended military confrontation while maintaining operational capabilities across its armed forces.

“We have prepared ourselves for a prolonged war,” the former commander said, adding that Iran’s military planning is based on the expectation of long-term conflict rather than short engagements.

He further stated that Iran’s current stockpiles and defence systems are designed to support sustained operations, saying, “If the war that Iran faced in the past lasted years, today we are ready for a war that could last a decade.”

The remarks reflect a broader narrative frequently expressed by Iranian military officials, who have repeatedly emphasised preparedness for extended conflict scenarios involving regional adversaries and external powers.
