According to a report by Football London, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Arsenal are expected to benefit from the Premier League’s introduction of new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) regulations, which will replace the previous Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The changes are designed to simplify financial monitoring while placing limits on clubs’ spending relative to their football-related revenue.
Under the new system, Premier League clubs will be allowed to spend up to 85 percent of their football revenue and net profits from player sales on wages, transfer fee amortisation, and agents’ fees.
Clubs that exceed the threshold may face financial penalties, while those who significantly surpass the permitted limits risk sporting sanctions, including points deductions.
Annual compliance checks will take place in March, with further reviews conducted after each season.
Arsenal are considered well-positioned under the new framework because the club has already been operating under stricter UEFA financial regulations.
The Gunners have been complying with a 70 percent Squad Cost Ratio requirement in European competitions, making the Premier League’s 85 percent threshold less restrictive.
As Football London noted, “The Gunners, as mentioned, have been complying with a Squad Cost Ratio of 70% in UEFA competitions, rather than the Premier League’s 85%.”
The club’s financial position has also been strengthened by recent on-field success.
Arsenal reportedly generated more than £300 million in revenue through their Premier League title-winning campaign and participation in the UEFA Champions League.
Those earnings have provided greater flexibility ahead of a transfer window in which sporting director Andrea Berta is expected to pursue several high-profile targets.
Potential player sales could further increase Arsenal’s spending power, Football London highlighted that assets such as Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri and Ben White could attract significant transfer interest.
Meanwhile, expensive targets including Morgan Rogers and Junior Kroupi remain on Arsenal’s radar as the club looks to reinforce its squad for the 2026/27 season.
