According to a report by Barca Universal on Tuesday June 2, 2026, Barcelona’s pursuit of Julián Álvarez continues to attract major attention, with fresh reports from Argentina suggesting the club may have already taken a key step forward in securing the striker’s signature.
According to DSports Radio in Argentina, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Álvarez have reportedly reached a full agreement on a five-year contract, strengthening speculation about a potential move to the Camp Nou.
However, despite this alleged agreement with the player, no deal has been reached with Atlético Madrid, and the Spanish club remain firm in their stance regarding his future.
The report claims Álvarez has already approved Barcelona’s long-term sporting project, even though negotiations between the two clubs are still at an early and unresolved stage.
Barcelona are said to have made serious efforts to sign the Argentine international, including an offer reportedly worth around €100 million, but Atlético Madrid rejected it without hesitation.
Atlético president Enrique Cerezo has also made the club’s position clear, insisting publicly that Álvarez is not available for transfer and remains a key part of their long-term plans at the club.
