Senator Yusuf A. Yusuf has dropped a heavy one on the ruling party, declaring that while the APC isn’t currently sweating over the 2027 presidential race, the real danger is within.

Speaking in an interview on Channels TV, the Senator noted that the opposition currently looks like a group of “captains” without a team, making it easier for President Bola Tinubu to eye a second term.

He argued that as it stands, there is no serious force on the other side to push the current government out of power.

According to the live broadcast on Channels TV on Monday, April 20, 2026, the Senator raised the alarm that internal “wahala” could tear the APC apart.

He warned that the party’s biggest threat isn’t the opposition, but an internal explosion caused by the greed of certain power blocs.

Yusuf insisted that the party must avoid the “trap” of giving automatic tickets to incumbents, warning that such a move would force many loyal members to dump the APC for other parties.

He challenged the leadership to ensure a fair fight in the primaries to keep the party united.

Speaking during the political segment at the 3:16 mark, Senator Yusuf sent a direct warning to the President: “Don’t put all your eggs in the governors’ basket.”

He made it known that many of these governors are actually not popular in their own backyard and cannot guarantee any win in a real contest.

The Senator argued that the party is currently split between the “City Boys,” the Renewed Hope group, and the governors’ camp, creating a mess that only a transparent internal election can fix before the 2027 polls.
