BREAKING: 2027: Aiyedatiwa Moves Against Akeredolu’s Men In Ondo APC

According to a report by Leadership, on Monday April 20, 2026, fresh political tension is building within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎The dispute is centred around Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and supporters of the late former governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, party insiders say there are growing concerns that loyalists of Akeredolu may be losing influence in the party structure.

‎Some members claim that the recent party congresses did not favour many of them, they allege that several of Akeredolu’s supporters were left out of key party positions across the state, including in Owo Local Government Area.

‎There are claims that the political struggle could affect lawmakers from Ondo State at the National Assembly, some party sources believe that certain federal lawmakers seen as close to Akeredolu may struggle to secure return tickets in the next election cycle.

‎Among those mentioned are lawmakers representing different federal constituencies in the state, the situation has created anxiety within the party, as members worry about possible internal divisions.

‎Some political observers also link recent developments to emerging 2027 political calculations in the state, they argue that consultations and alignments are already shaping future candidacies within the APC.

‎However, Governor Aiyedatiwa has denied all allegations of sidelining anyone, speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, he insisted that the governor has no control over party tickets, he explained that candidate selection is handled by the party and not the state government.

‎He noted that no primaries have taken place yet, and no official guidelines have been released for the 2027 elections, according to him, it is therefore wrong for anyone to assume that tickets have been denied.
