According to a report by The Vanguard on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has made a staggering allegation against the Oyo State Government, claiming it orchestrated the recent mass abduction of schoolchildren and teachers to politically embarrass President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking during a televised programme on Monday, the blunt politician questioned the delayed response of the state government to the security crisis, suggesting the entire tragedy was politically motivated.
The kidnapping, which took place on Friday, has thrown the nation into mourning and forced the Federal Government to deploy a high-powered rescue delegation.
Fayose argued that state governors possess massive security votes and must bear primary responsibility for local safety rather than shifting blame upwards. He accused Governor Seyi Makinde of ignoring the tragedy to focus strictly on political nominations.
“In Oyo State, I strongly believe though I might be wrong but this sometimes might be orchestrated. The governor of Oyo State had his nomination and that of his candidates in the face of this abduction,” Fayose declared.
The former governor explained that Makinde took no immediate action or protective steps when the news broke. Instead, he waited until after his political party nominations were concluded before visiting the traumatised families.
“I sometimes believe that the abduction at Oyo School was orchestrated by the Oyo State Government to blackmail President Tinubu,” Fayose stated.
Neither Governor Makinde nor the Oyo State Government had issued a response to these heavy accusations at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the incident continues to spark intense outrage, with citizens demanding swift military action to rescue the victims.
