Wike Declares: “My Only Commitment Is To Tinubu, Not Anyone Else

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has firmly dismissed claims suggesting that he has backed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for a second term in office. He clarified that such reports are inaccurate and emphasized that his only declared political support remains with President Bola Tinubu.

During an interview aired by Channels Television, Wike addressed the speculation directly, stressing that he has not made any public or private commitment to Fubara or any other political figure regarding future elections. According to him, any statement implying otherwise is misleading and should be disregarded.

He stated, “The only commitment that I have made is to support Tinubu. I have not spoken about anybody else. If you know that I have not spoken to you and you have not talked to me, don’t say it again that I have endorsed your second term,” he said.

Wike further explained that when he chooses to support a candidate, his position would be clearly communicated without room for doubt. He noted that those familiar with his political style understand that he does not operate in secrecy when making such declarations. His endorsements, he said, are always direct, intentional, and publicly stated.

Addressing the ongoing assumptions within political circles, the minister cautioned Governor Fubara and his allies against interpreting his silence or perceived gestures as a sign of approval. He made it clear that no decision has been reached concerning future political endorsements and that he is still carefully observing developments before taking any stance.
