Media personality and politician Dele Momodu has defended former Vice President Atiku Abubakar while reacting to the controversy surrounding the ADC presidential primary election.

Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Momodu said Atiku has consistently demonstrated calmness and maturity despite facing criticism and political attacks from various individuals, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

According to him, Atiku rarely reacts angrily to criticism and continues to conduct himself in a presidential manner. He added that such composure is important in Nigerian politics, especially during tense political periods.

Momodu also criticized the actions of former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi and others who rejected the outcome of the ADC primary before the process was concluded. He stated that elections should not be handled like student union contests where emotions and conflict dominate proceedings.

The media personality commended party members and organizers for conducting the exercise peacefully despite the challenges involved. He said the process should serve as a model for other political parties across the country.

Momodu further urged aggrieved politicians not to weaken the party from within if they are genuinely interested in unseating Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

In his words, “All the attacks against him, have you ever seen him respond to Obasanjo or anybody? That is the kind of temper and temperament we need. He’s so presidential.”
