BREAKING: Tinubu Would Go Into Depression for Days When Told Buhari Wouldn’t Support Him — Babachir Lawal
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has made fresh claims about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emotional reactions during the build-up to the 2023 presidential election, alleging that he was deeply affected whenever there were indications of lack of support from former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking in a video shared by Channels Television, Lawal described Tinubu’s presidential ambition at the time as highly consuming, saying it influenced his emotions and behaviour in ways that were noticeable to those around him.
According to him, Tinubu reportedly reacted strongly whenever he was informed that Buhari might not endorse his presidential bid. He alleged that such information would often cause the former Lagos State governor to withdraw from public engagement for days.
In his words, Lawal stated that Tinubu’s ambition reached a point where it affected his ability to remain emotionally balanced when faced with discouraging political news.
He said: “The desire to be president consumed him to the extent that he could not differentiate between what is wrong and right. I look at him from two aspects there. In those days this man will go into a depression if somebody comes to tell him that ‘Buhari told us that he is not going to support you’, he will immediately go into a depression, 2 to 3 days he will not come out.”
Lawal’s remarks appear to reflect internal political dynamics within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the intense contest leading up to the 2023 elections, a period marked by negotiations, endorsements, and shifting alliances.
While he made these statements in a reflective tone, the comments have added to ongoing public discussions about the behind-the-scenes political strategies and emotional pressures that shaped the race for the presidency.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from the Presidency or President Tinubu’s media team regarding Babachir Lawal’s claims.
The remarks continue to circulate widely, contributing to broader debates about political ambition, party dynamics, and leadership contests within Nigeria’s recent political history.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
