According to a report by DAILY POST on Monday 1st June 2026, the Labour Party has officially released the full list of its candidates in Benue State following the conclusion of its primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

The announcement was made by the state chairman, Ochonu William Okefie, after receiving the final compilation from the State Organizing Secretary, Sam Ape; The list includes candidates for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and the Benue State House of Assembly.

Dr. Mathias Terwase Byuan emerged as the party’s governorship flag bearer for Benue State.

Senatorial Candidates:

Benue North East (Zone A): Iyorwuese Ligom

Benue North West (Zone B): Richard Gbamwuan

Benue South (Zone C): Dr. Onuh Prince

House of Representatives Picks

The party selected candidates across federal constituencies as follows:

Zone A:

Terhemen Gyado (Konshisha/Vandeikya), Apev John Mson (Kwande/Ushongo), Anshura Dennis (Logo/Katsina-Ala/Ukum)

Zone B:

Fidelis Audu (Makurdi/Guma), Tyopie Gideon Bem (Gboko/Tarka), Luper Dim (Gwer/Gwer West), Madza Msughter (Buruku)

Zone C:

Hon. Dr. Bishop Philip Agbese (Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo), Blessed Emmanuel Onah (Obi/Oju), Kenneth Obiabo Ehoche (Apa/Agatu), Adamu Hassan (Otukpo/Ohimini)

The list also covers all constituencies in the Benue State House of Assembly across Zones A, B, and C, featuring numerous candidates representing local government areas such as Kwande, Guma, Makurdi, Gboko, Buruku, Oju, and Agatu.

Party officials described the completion of the primaries as a key milestone in preparing for the 2027 elections, stating that the candidates are expected to strengthen the party’s performance and representation across the state.
