Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his allies were squarely to blame for Peter Obi’s rise to prominence in national politics, according to Segun Showunmi, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Showunmi urged Obi to temper his growing hostility inside the coalition, arguing that it demonstrates a lack of political maturity rather than power.
He argued that Obi’s coalition was formed over months of painstaking meetings and sacrifices by individuals who were working hard long before Obi arrived, and that arriving late and trying to control the procedure demonstrates a lack of respect for the groundwork others have established.
