According to a report by Vanguard on Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and aspirant for the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives ticket for Agege Constituency, Mudashiru Obasa, has described Saturday’s primary election as peaceful, saying the exercise reflected the strength of internal democracy within the party.
Obasa spoke shortly after casting his vote at his ward in Agege at about 1 p.m.
The lawmaker arrived at the venue to a large gathering of party supporters and residents who turned out for the exercise.
The APC chieftain expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primary election in his area, noting that the process was orderly and encouraging for members of the party participating across the state.
He stated that the conduct of party members and officials at the polling venue showed commitment to democratic principles and peaceful participation during the exercise.
Obasa also commended the leadership of the APC at the national and state levels for overseeing the primary election process, describing the exercise as a positive development for the ruling party.
The Speaker further said that although reports from some wards were still being expected, he was optimistic that the exercise would remain peaceful in other locations where voting was taking place.
He said, “This is a fantastic exercise and a very good development and a new direction.
“We appreciate the National Chairman of APC and his team and party leaders in Lagos State.
“Though, we still await situation report from other wards but I want to believe it will be peaceful as well.”
